Reading Spanish Book of Mormon

Dear Mamberson,
I´M SO SORRY!!! I totally didn´t mean to make you sad with that last letter! I´m pretty cure the guy that yelled at us was a little crazy because it doesn´t happen often and i just thought it was funny so that´s why i wrote it to you. Most of the food here is super clean!! the rice has always been boiled so i´m never worried about it, we only eat with a few families who aren´t really wealthy enough to afford the best ways to clean the food, but i´m really not worried about it at all- i´ve eaten everything so far and been just fine. i´m sure that the 3 weeks thing without a letter is just some kind of argentine mail problem cuz that happens a whole ton, but it´s totally fine!! And where i live isn´t like Utah safe, but nothing has ever happened to me and I definately haven´t seen anyone get shot before! that´s just nuts. i´m definately way safe mom, don´t even worry! and i´m happy and i´m loving it :)
I totally love that kolby works at a pizza joint haha. you said he had a school schedule, but what school is he going to? just Dixie? I don´t know why i´m so curious about his life, but i just am.
This week was totally a great one. We had interviews with the Presidente and he told us about how the mission isn´t going very good right now and he has prayed about it and received an answer that as missionaries we should do 2 things: (1) drop all of the things that handicap us from working our hardest and giving our all and (2) focus on strengthening our personal relationships with heavenly father. So that´s like the focus of the mission right now because he says that there is really nothing he can do as a President, we just need to be more commited and focused as missinaries.
We´ve been doing a lot of finding this week and we found like 6 pretty awesome people who really have a lot of potential to progress. Everytime we meet someone new i´m so surprised when i hear myself tell them that i have already been on my mission for 8 months... too fast.  Did you know that Steve Montague has already been on his mission for a year?! that´s crazy talk.
My new comp has really been wanting to gain the trust of the ward so we´re working with them a ton right now. We ask them what they want us to do and we do it as fast as possible then we go back and tell them how it went and it´s been going really good- they´ve given us some pretty awesome references and some other people who were just like waiting for some kind of help.
For my studies right now i´m doing the greatest thing ever. Because i don´t really have the language down right now i took a simple spanish book of mormon and just started reading and marking every word that i didn´t recognize or know and as i´ve gone on i´m marking less and less every time and it´s just a super awesome way to see my progression and learn a ton about the book of mormon.
Hey, listen, i´ll see you later!             da wun, da onlee, Elder Emett

A little jealou that Kolby is home!

Hey Mom,
I´m only a little jealous about my brother named kolby getting home and hanging out with Laura and sleeping in good beds and eating clean foods and being safe and standing on carpet and taking hot showers, but not too much. I love that his mission president wouldn´t let 2 yankees serve together haha that´s a great idea, i kinda wish that would happen here, but no, i love my compy. He´s spending time with Jessica? ooh, en serio, no vi eso veniendo. has he talked with or hung out with james barrick yet? what did him and josh talk about? i sure hope he writes me to tell me cuz i don´t have his normal-person email address yet. Does he stay up late and watch disney movies? has he watched the avengers yet? is he looking for a job? what are his plans? does he cry because he isn´t teaching people about the gospel? does he want to switch me places? too bad. does he wear normal people clothes and just be alone sometimes? that is just sooo weird to me that he´s actually home. he is just like THE missionary to me cuz he´s been gone for so long.
This week has been a blast, my companion is just used to working!!! so we work and we talk to all the people and i love it. when he got here we just dropped like almost all of our investigators because they weren´t really progressing and right now we´re just searching for those elect because there seems to be a common theme here in argentina and it´s that the people don´t like to talk to us haha and the ones that do like to talk don´t really like to do a whole lot of stuff on their own (like read the bom to know if it´s true). so right now we´re really just searching for people who love god enough to do something and change their lives.
The other day we were walking in the middle of the city and an old man passed us and yelled, "¡fuera! ¡fuera!" which means "out! out!" and it´s what all the argentine people say to dogs when they want the dogs to go away haha. we just took it as a joke.
Seriously though, everythings going awesome here. i haven´t received a letter in like 3 weeks, but i was warned that the letters had to slow down sometime and i´m sure it´s just some kind of problem with the mail system again. I can´t believe that becca is 12!!!! that´s so crazy!!! we´re teaching a girl who is just one year older than her and that´s just crazy to think that baby becca is almost as old as her!          love, (the only) Elder Emett

Doing Super Awesome!

Aloha the Thams,
Oh no!! my little brother kolby has to go at his house right
now! how sad :( you´re totally right that i totally am just getting
started, i feel the same. But i am sooooo stoked for dad´s calling!
he´ll be such a great presidente, i just hope the letters don´t slow
down because, and i don´t thank him nearly enough, but his letters
really help me so much. every time the zone leaders bring letters over
to our house i pretty much always have something from him that tells
me all about what´s going on at home so i don´t ever even have to get
trunky, i can live in both worlds at once! and when he bears his
testimony is the best, i have one specific letter that he sent me like
2 months ago that i cherish like none other. I read it during the hard
times and i´ve finally realized that the counsel of a father is
priceless so THANK YOU SO MUCH DAD!!! I LOVE YOU!
I´m just doing super awesome. it´s true that i finally got
separated from my dad of the mission, my new companion is from
mapleton utah and his name is trevor swanson. I totally love him
because he´s just a worker. he´s like 6´ 3´´ and played soccer in
highschool. I don´t know if anyone will really know what i´m talking
about here, but on all the northern utah soccer teams they always have
a super tall midfielder who is just a boss and never loses the ball-
yeah that´s him. we played together today and im super stoked to be
his comp. we made some changes to how we are doing things and already
we´ve seen a ton more success as a companionship. we also got a new
zone leader who is from Lima, Peru!!!! he is super short and always
talks about how he is a leader of dancing in peru and how he can make
any peruvian dish. i already asked him and he said he didn´t meet an
elder emett, but he could have because he´s only been on the mission
for like a year.
i´ll try to send you pictures, but i feel like i already
kind of did and i´ve been in the same place for like 5 months now so
haha it´s nothing impressive. i will speak with you one of these other
days coming up.                               Elder Emett ( capaz el

Another Yankee from Utah!

to me
Hey Mamzi!
This week was totally great! i loved the conference eventhough we only got to go on sunday cuz there was plenty of work to be done on saturday and the priesthood session started when we were supposed to go to bed. this week is transfers and my trainer is leaving and i´m going to be companions with another yankee from utah named elder swanson haha what a jokester name. i´m super stoked for the kolb-ster, send him my loves and tell him he has to set up a regular email so we can start to email now that he probably has more time. sorry that this was way short! :/ next weeks´ll be bigger!  Elder Emett

P.S.

ooooooooh sorry for doing this, but i realized about something that i
really really want after i sent that last email- remember that
calender that i have about the missionaries?! i love that with all my
heart! but it´s going to end soon so i was wondering if you were all
planning on doing another one. if not it´s ok, but it´s the coolest
toy a missionary can have!! or just any other type of calender with
birthdays or cosas así ok, sorry, bye! love ya

I need to know where I am from? Duh, St George!

The Mamerson,
What a week in Argentina, no?! great stuff. I don´t know if
i´ve said this before, but seriously like 1/10 of the people here have
lived in utah (either provo or orem). and this week we met a super
happy family of 4 who used to live in utah. we invited them to come to
our class of english and they all showed up and participated and loved
it so we´re going to go by and teach them things about the gospel too.
but i just have to say that i am so grateful... or greatful.... estoy
agradecido for all the members in utah because all the argentines say
that the people of utah are always way nice and helpful and they have
always talked to the missionaries before because you can´t go live in
utah and not talk to the missionaries. but yeah, we´re going to teach
them and there was another guy that stopped us on the street and said,
"hey elders! i´m from utah!" totally all in english just like that and
he´s not a member either, but wants us to come and teach him and his
cute little argentine utahn family.
The craziest part of my week is that my zone leader, elder
nuñez, is going home the same week as kolby and i´m so scared for
kolby!! he has to go be normal now. my zone leader is scared and
excited and anxious all at the same time and it would really just be
the weirdest thing to go home. i´m so glad i don´t have to, ¡voy a
quedarme hasta el fin del mundo! na, i´m super excited for my brother.
I need to know where i´m from!!!!! we were out contacting and a
lady told us that she´s super interested in her ancestors so we
invited her to check out familysearch.org and then she asked where i
was from and i had absolutely no idea! i said probably like europe and
definately the united states and maybe from argentina or peru, but i
really don´t know where our people are from. can you please help me
out with that and just give me like 2 names of countries even if you
have to lie? thanks, that would be so awesome!
ooh, as for a package you´re going to send- you know those
taffys that are like small and orange and sometimes have
jack-o-lantern faces on them?! that´s probably my favorite of all the
halloween candy and if you want to send any pictures of the ´nightmare
before christmas´ that would be cool too, i already asked laura if she
would send me one of those, but the more the better! :) but after that
just anything, things of christmas would be good too because it will
probably be christmas or past christmas when i actually get the
package haha. but everything here in the great argentina is going just
great! i´ll see you all next week.
