I finally have notices!!!

wehehell,
Look at this. After so much time of never having notices about my move i finally have notices!! and good ones too. I´m leaving on saturday to go to the mission capital, Rosario!!! i have never served in Rosario before so i´m super stoked to go see what it´s all about. I´m going to a really big ward that works really hard. There were ton of changes in our zone, 9 out of 24 missionaries are leaving so they´ll pretty much be starting from scratch. This means i won´t really know how i´ll be calling, but i´ll try to let you know. have josh just send me emails and stuff, cuz that worked super good the last time!
This last week we had the chance to baptize someone. Her name is Samanta, she is 18 and sooooo cool. She just knew the church was true with her whole heart. Her mom through her out of the house when she wanted to get baptized, but she kept wanting to get baptized anyway. Her mom finally decided to support her in her decisions and she went right ahead and got baptized. The best part was that her mom and her boyfriend came to the baptism and said that they both loved it so they´ll come back on sunday for sure!!!!
Everything is pretty much back to normal in the mission... all except for Concordia... which is where i am right now... but i´m leaving!!! haha, so no worries for me. what happened here is that the cops through a fit and got payed more so now the teachers and doctors are throwing fits because they´ve seen that they can get payed more.
I love your letter about how great everything is!! i just have one question... who´s baby is Macie Jo? There are way too many pregnancies going on in our family for me to be sure who´s it is haha, sorry if that´s mean. I just sure hope it´s not mine.
Merry Christmas!! because the next time we talk will be christmas day. I will try to see if i can find some way to warn you what time i´ll be calling at, but i´m not sure if i´ll be able to, so see you soon!

Rebellions in Argentina!

Deer Mawm,
Thank you for your letter, i enjoyed it very much. Snow no longer exists, i have met three people in Argentina who have ever seen snow and it´s only because they traveled to other countries. Snow would be so crazy!!!! Right now it´s just the middle of summer and there is a lot of humidity, but it´s just my sweat. Save some snow for me, would you? thanks a lot, i would love that.
Mam, the craziest thing happened. I´m totally fine, just know that i´m absolutely fine and everything is under control right now. On sunday night there was a huge break out of the citizens of the city here. i´m in a city called Concordia and all the police of this cute little city decided they wanted a salary raise and they went on strike and they told the poor people about it so that the poor people would rob the stores so that the strike had a huge effect and that people died and got injured and they had to call in the feds and it was just a huge ol´ mess. Just know that i´m so very grateful to live in a free country that has such a great government set up and protects the citizens so much! What a divine commandment that we obey the laws of the land, that´s really a huge blessing that everyone in the united states is in agreement with doing that. The police are working again, they came to an accord so everything is just fine and under control, but there are just some days when i stay in the pench the whole entire day and realize why i love the U.S. A LOT.
If you hear anything about rebelions in argentina just know that i´m not in it at all, i´m super safe and loving my time here. I opened my stocking and i got so excited for all the american candy! i´m going to show it to all the argentines, i hope they love it as much as i do. Just so you know i´m probably leaving this area next week, sooooo i don´t know if i´ll be able to communicate with you about how we´ll talk on christmas.... i´m probably going to be  training a new missionary in an area that´s not mine so i don´t know what i´ll use to talk to you, but we´ll work it out for sure.
Have  a great week this week with the christmas calender! I love you all tons! see you next week

IGOCHPAKJ!!!!!!!

Wutta Thanksgiving!!
Wutta thanksgiving. I already knew that they didn´t celebrate thanksgiving here, but i guess i just had a little bit of hope that we would do something fun, and we did!!! we worked, but i did have a lot of desires to do some thanksgiving turkey bowl and eat at aunt Pam´s house. It´s all good though, the time is flying by so fast right now that that whole week was just like 8 hours long.
IGOCHAPAKIJ!!!!!!! Kolby can definately read that if nobody else gets it. it says: i got your package! but i was excited so i yelled it and the words all slurred together. But i´m so excited!!! i already put the little goo things on windows and mirrors and now it looks like a woman decorated our apartment :D Can i really not open the stocking until Christmas? I´ve held back all of my curiosity up until now, but i know you mentioned that so i just wanted to see if it´s a rule or not. THe little book i recieved from the older boys has already become treasure without measure and i can´t explain the enjoyment i know i will have when i eat all those sweet little marshmallows.
Christmas has begun! i´ll probably be buying the nativity scene soon, but that would be cool if you told me exactly what you are expecting out of it. Everything goes good here in my house, argentina. I´ll see you all at the movie night and dinner at durangos this saturday!

What he is grateful for!

La Mamá,
Yo quería escribirte en castellano hoy porque todos los wachos lo están haciendo. Na, i´m just kidding. I´ll try hard to answer all the questions.
I´m doing super good! I don´t really know how rosario is, i´ve never actually served there, I´ve only been there for meetings and stuff, but from what i hear they are doing really good down there. I did not ever get the christmas package that the lady sent me, but even if it got to the mission perfectly fine i still wouldn´t have had a chance to obtain it yet so hopefully it´s all good :)
Addi could talk, but she could only say very very small words that were more like burps so i´m super excited to get home and see how she´s talking!!!! i´m not excited that when i get home she´ll have no more reason to pray for me :(
About the missionaries going home early, that is a real thing that it´s hard to not have access to technology to socialize all the time. I would definately say that the reasons go deeper than that, but it sure is a real thing about getting hooked on facebook and getting to a point where you need it.
I have not figured out how to call you on christmas yet. There are transfers the week before christmas and, more than likely, i´m going to leave my area so we won´t have a ton of time to set it up, but i will call you!! don´t worry about that. I´m sure that i´ll be able to find some kind of computer to do skype too.
About the release date... i asked for an extension and the president told me it would be an honor to have me stay in his mission.... so i´ll be getting home in the middle of september of next year! Na, i´m kidding. Our president doesn´t give out extensions except for really special reasons. Kolby was totally right though, my mission got extended by 2 weeks so i should be going home around march 12th. But no worries, i´ll get flight plans and let you know all about it.
I won´t get to be seated around the Thanksgiving table this year when we say what we are grateful for so i´d love to take the oportunity right now!! I´m grateful for family!!!!! I know that i do really bad at expressing that, just based on the amount of letters and packages i send, but every day i´m reminded by the spirit how grateful i am for my family. I´m grateful for parents who are so giving to be paying for this whole mission gig that i´m doing. I´m grateful for the redeeming power of Jesus Christ´s atonement that helps us all to be better and erase our mistakes and i´m super grateful for the chance that i have to teach that to the cute little city of Concordia in Argentina. God´s plan I so divine that i came here to this exact city to meet the exact people i did because it really could not have been any other way. I´m grateful for that plan. I´m grateful for your support and i´m grateful because i´m an Emett!!! Odoyle Rules! gracias. amen.

Still has a sense of humor!

Mum,
          Healthy, happy, doing good.
                                 Love, Elder Emett

Naaaaaaaa! i´m just kidding. Sorry that all the letters have been short, but sometimes it´s just like that.
This last week we had a crazy experience. A man named Ramon came to church 2 weeks ago just totally drugged and out of it. He lives in the street and really just has nothing going in his life. People go to the church very often to ask for money or food or things like that because the whole world here understands we´re good people, but when he came into the church he didn´t ask for food or money or a place to stay. He simply told a branch president here that he needed to change so he showed up at the church.
The branch president came and got my companion and i out of sacrament meeting and we met Ramon. I don´t know if you know the look in the eye of someone who is so drugged they can hardly think.. well, his eyes were like that. Usually people like that just yell at us asking for money and say a whole lot of stuff they don´t mean to say. He was composing himself super well, but we said either way he wouldn´t understand anything right then. We said, ´´Ramon, you come here at five thirty tonight and we´ll help you, but you can´t touch drugs or alcohol today or we won´t be able to help you.´´ So he left and at five thirty my companion and i were in the church doubtfully waiting. I looked out the window and i thought i saw him sitting on a wall on the other side of the street so i went outside to see if it was really him and he had left. so i ran down the street to see if he had turned the corner and it was him! i called him and we taught him. He just kept saying with eyes full of tears, ´´until when? until when?´´ as in he was absolutely sick of being that way. He hadn´t used drugs or alcohol all day and he really understood what we said. We told him to come back tuesday at five and he came! But that look in his eyes was way better, when he came walking down the street he had a big smile and was just as happy as can be and looked like a regular person. We didn´t have a lot of chances to teach him this week, but he went to church yesterday and made comments and asked questions in the classes and all the members treated him great!!!
Also, yesterday we had the most people in church i have ever had in this area (in over 6 months) There were 53 and the coolest part is that a ton of them were new. We are having a ton of success in this area. My companion (Elder Taylor) and i have been together like 4 months and we are just having a ton of fun. He is from Payson so we´re totally going to hang out after the mission. We are just like best friends and the coolest part is that he is just the bossest missionary ever. He fixes everything.... spiritually and like mechanically.
You already knew that stephen Montague got home from his mission, right? well right now he is working as a valet in Las Vegas and last week he went to our house to visit the Emett family... but nobody was there!!!! So he went in and took a picture equally. haha gosh i miss that guy.
Right now we are doing super good here in the zone Entre Rios. There is an email they send us every preparation day that shows how many baptisms each zone has and, for my entire mission, Entre Rios has been the zone that never baptizes. Last week in the weekly email it showed that we are leading the whole mission in baptisms right now!!
I hope that was a little longer! l love you all! i´ll keep jason in my prayers cuz that´s way scary, i hate head problems!!!!!!  much love!

Good news for the week!

Hola mamà,
That´s great to hear that the family is doing well! i hope they like the pictures i sent!
The big angry mexican was not my companion, he just lived with me for 6 entire months. He is not even that big, i think i can take him, but he just looks like a full man already. He was serving as a branch president and was completely against all jokes or fun that we did. It`s not that he was angry with me or had anything against me, he just had a very... strange attitude toward everything. Buuuut, he went home!! and i loved the guy, but the mission is just going to be a little happier for me now haha, that´s all.
This week we had a baptism of a girl named victoria. On sunday she gave her tetimony and it was so absolutely touching! I feel like such a part of their family.
Thats my good news for this week,  i love you all a ton. See you soon

Big Angry Mexican

Mum,
So it turns out that there weren´t as many changes as we thought. we were waiting for the whole world to change, but there were hardly any changes, except our zone just got even bigger haha.
This week was a great week. We were able to help a girl named Victoria prepare for baptism and she will be getting baptized today in the afternoon!
We traveled to rosario the past week. My companion and i have become huge fans of traveling so we do it really often. We have decided that one of these times they are going to send us to the states on one of these travels.
For six months i have lived with a big angry mexican and he just barely went home because he ended the mission so i believe that i´m going to have a whole lot of fun now!! probably a lot more jokes and joshing around, i´m way excited about that.
Sorry that there is not a whole lot of time to write nor a lot of things to write about, but i love you all and i´ll see you at the turkey bowl

No Halloween in Rosario!

Halloween is most certainly a U.S. Holiday. I have asked people here if they celebrate it and they know what it is, but they don´t celebrate nor respect it.
My week was actually really good, we found out that all the changes will actually happen this week right now! so i haven´t changed anything yet, although we have to be like searching for new apartments and stuff constantly for the new missionaries to move into.
This week a girl named Marisol got baptized in our branch, she is ten years old, super spiritual and really just a little angel. Her parents aren´t members and they are really really dificult people to talk to. They live in an abandoned hospital clinic and beg on the streets as a career. They are actually really nice people, but not married and too far into drugs and smoking that they don´t listen to us when we talk about Jesus Christ. They have a lot of fear for the name we wear on our chest. But my companion and i went over to their house this week to help them learn how to be parents haha, it was a really fun lesson.
This week we were practicing for a talent show with a lot of other missionaries when we got a call from our branch president who told us to go help a family move and we said SURE!! so we went right on over to the house.... but that´s not why we went at all!! the house had burned all the way to the ground! it was a lady who is not a member, but her son is a super cool member. Her house was made of wood (like literally just like 2 by 4s) and some kind of spark from cables just fell on the house and in just a blink of an eye the whole entire house had burned down. Thank goodness she wasn´t in there!!! but her poor little dog was in there and got toasted. we showed up in our proselyting clothes because we thought we were just going to be moving like couches and dresssers and stuff, but that darn satan.
Hey, you all have a great halloween! I´m pretty sure i´m going to be malfoy because i just recently bought a slytherin tie. I´ll see you at the party! much love

See you tomorrow!

Yahoooo for you!!!
That would be really neat to get a package, but don´t worry,  i won´t be expecting it just in case. I´m so jealous that we have a brother that lives in vegas! i´m super stoked to visit him and get lost all over vegas! this week was super good, i got the chance to be a companion for three days with an elder who is from Vegas and has only been in argentina for 3 weeks! His name is Elder Witter and he went to West Point for college so he showed me how you really do workouts in the morning and work hard all day, it was a really good experience and i learned a ton being with him.
We had a big meeting in a city that is 5 hours away and i found out that there will be 28 missionaries getting here this week!!! and then 16 more 2 weeks after. So pretty much the president said he is going to split up my zone! :( It will become 2 zones and there`s a good chance that my companion and i won´t be companions anymore pretty soon... It´s pretty sad, but it´s ok, i signed up for change when i signed up for the mission.
Today i bought a new proselyting bag! it costed 75 pesos and hopefully this one won´t stain my shirts as much as the one i have now haha.
It has been an awesome week and i´ll let you know all about the new changes next week! See you tomorrow! with little loves

Whoa, that little rat-looking thing just got ate!!

Mama,
What a neat week, eh? My companion and i were walking on the street the other day and we just saw this full blown mouse run out of bushes and into like a crowd of people that were just standing in front of a little store. NONE of the people even noticed, but the dog sure did! so the dog pursued the poor little rat and the rat even ran into like thick brush, but the dog did not give up. We watched as the dog caught the little thing AND ATE IT. i was just like, ´´whoa! that little rat-looking thing just got ate!´´
But the week overall was super super good. There was another marriage of an investigator with a less active who has become an active member. It was really weird because it`s like a huge step in their life, but they´ve been together for like 5 years already so it doesn`t even seem like anything is going to change, they say. But the girl is going to get baptized this week coming up.
Ahhhhh it`s welsh`s mom. He is an incredible missionary, he`s the ap right now. but hey, don`t worry so much about getting a million christmas things in there, i´ve decided i´ll just have argentine christmases which aren´t bad at all, but it is really cool to share the stuff from my christmases back home with all the cool argentine people here so they can get to know new stuff too. The only thing i really really ask is marshmallows!!!! I need marshmallows because they don´t even know what they are here.
This week i went to a members house and she told me i was famous on twitter! i thought she was just joking, but she showed me that i am! When i was proselyting with my companion a girl took a picture of us and put it on twitter with a little caption that says, ´´a little early to out bugging everybody, huh jehovah´s witnesses?´´ haha i laughed so hard about it. Lots of people are super ignorant about what God wants for them, but it´s ok! we just help the people who let God help them.
I love you all lots! Say happy birthday to the becks for me! 13... that`s so crazy. She is just still little Beckham. she could probably like beat me up now and she´s probably like going on dates and stuff. See you at school.

I love weddings!

oh
whoa! that`s crazy news about amanda, that would be hard to just keep all the stuff secret we`re doing. We go all over the world to talk to people and tell everyone what we know, it would be hard to keep all that a secret from your family. This week was successful and filling. I love the weddings, i´m never gonna get sick of seeing these people get married. They got married and she got married on the next day. The water was super cold for her baptism, but she still got baptized!!! she just hates us now. Sorry, i don`t have a ton of time this week, but i´ll let you all know i´m doing great and i´m super happy!!! i´m just hanging out with all my friends and talking about God all the time. It´s the best thing ever. See you at the party.

Hey, what is my blog?

Mam!
i absolutely adore your email!!!!! Thank you so much for all the news about the ward and people around there, that`s really just great stuff that you don`t hear about a lot being in the mission- like kim esplin  and ¿¿¡¡Jandi Gray!!?? are both going on missions. i was sure that J.T. McKean would go on a mission, but i wasn´t sure when. That´s so crazy that he already had his farewell.
About the Hall family that moved into our ward, do you know if they moved from a different part of Saint George? Like in Dixie area? is the older one`s name Jeff? Cuz i might have played soccer with him in high school and on my club teams. He is a really awesome kid and that would just be toooo good to have him in my ward. haha no, i didn`t know we got a chick fil a in saint george, but i´m sure i´ll love it.
The DelToros did not live in our ward before i left but i guess i´m really excited to meet them because you talk about them a ton haha. And about your friend- talk to Kolby or Josh or Matt about what to say to her and what to do because if their missions were anything like my mission is they taught a ton of members how to talk to friends so that sharing the gospel is not something awkward or weird.
I am actually really healthy and happy and the work of the lord is just going so firm and awesome that we really don`t have time for everything so it sucks up one hundred percent of my time. Mom, please don`t ever again tell me it seems like i`ve been gone forever or that i´m coming home soon. I really haven´t. I´m glad you miss me and love me, but i get the worst feeling ever when i think about the mission ending. I had the oportunity to do divisions with a missionary who is ending the mission in one month and we just talked about what it would be like... We talked about when they take our placks off and the mantel of being a missionary gets lifted off of our shoulders. I got the worst feeling ever in my stomach just like i wanted to puke. Soooo i don`t know if i´ll be coming home either way, but i still have a lot of time left.
Hey, what is my blog? i would love to be able to see it just to know what all is on it. could you like send me the website or whatever it is? thanks.
This week we have another wedding!!!! and someone else is going to get baptized afterward!!! it`s a little too exciting. They are 28 and 21 years old and just like the cutest little couple, they just remind me of a boyfriend and a girlfriend always like joking around and such. They are really excited and really spiritually mature.
Our apartment has had a couple of troubles lately. We had a shower that was electrical so you just plug it in and like a pipe heats up so the water passes through and we don`t die in the winter. Somehow the wires died and now we get the oportunity to bathe ourselves in nice cold water haha. i guess it`s a really good thing because i do my exercises really good in the morning so i´m nice and sweaty so the shower is just nice and refreshing in the morning haha. But we already got the guys to come look at it and they say they can fix it in 15 days hahaha it`s just a tender mercy.
Hey listen, i love you all. thank you so much for all you do for me. I´ll see you all later. have a great week.

Send Marshmallows!

 Hulo Mam,
There we go, finally i could get some pictures to you, i hope you like them!!!!! i sent a ton so you`ll just have to guess at what they are, but in the end they`re just all of my friends and great experiences i`m having in the mission right now.
This last week we finally started seeing some fruits from all the work we have been doing, Lina got married!!!!! then she got baptized on the same day right afterward. The wedding was really weird and it really really really made me want to get married in the temple. It was just a paper. It was super happy, but just nothing really. She has the goal to go to the temple, but he is not on board at all, it`s really weird, I wish i could just control his thoughts for a second.
We also got to go to a conference in Santa fe, my area where i was before. The seventy named Elder Di Giovanni came and talked to us. My zone lives super far away so we had to leave at night instead of going to sleep and we got there and had to wait in the church. The seventy used to be the mission president in Lima Peru Norte and i was going to go ask if he knew a Coby Emett, but he said that he ended that calling nine years ago. He talked a lot about being clean vessels so we can feel the power of the missionary work. He asked that we talk to everyone and said that if we don`t feel like talking to everyone we are disobedient and we need to repent,  whoa! scary! But he was really nice and explained things really simply, i got answers to a lot of questions i have had recently. After the conference he did something that really impressed me. There was a huge line of elder to take pictures with him and after the picture he would give everyone a sincere handshake and say like ``good luck`` or something like that. After i took the picture with him i went for the traditional handshake and he pulled me into a hug. He held me just like a loving father for a good 3 seconds then when he let go he touched my face and didn`t say a word.
We were really close to my old area and we had like an hour to wait for the bus so my companion and i ran over to a families house named the family Zanuttini (the family that let me use their camera for christmas to talk to you). I dropped in by surprise, but the majority of them were there. I felt like i was home, it was really weird. I was like nervous and shaky and stuff. I don`t think i would ever be able to go to my real home, i would die from the nerves.
I just realized that if you really are going to try to send a package you have to remember to send as many marshmallows as possible. nobody has them here and they all want to try them! But we have 2 more weddings coming up really soon so i`m just nothing but excited for all of what`s going on in my life right now. I love you all so much for your support and love, see you at the wedding!

Oh the bats the bats the bats the bats!

Mamz,
I have had a super great week this week! what a super shame that you don`t have those numbers from the packages, now they`ll just remain in limbo forever!!!! that`s ok, i`m going to learn how to do inception and i`ll go get them soon. But yeah, i still feel really great about the letters i always get so no worries :)
Oh the bats the bats the bats the bats. We won the battle for sure... but the war wages on and i believe we are actually going to stay in the apartment. Hopefully the Lord calls me to go train somewhere so i can get out of the sticky bat situation. Last night as i layed there awake they were just yelling at me like this, WREEEETTT  WREEEEET WWWRRREEET. Tell Matt i´m really confused at why he sent the Wreet bat all the way to Argentina just to scare me and keep me up all night. Tell him to call it back already.
This week was really cool though. We have an investigator that will get baptized this week named Lina, she is getting married then baptized all on this Thursday! She is going to be a really strong convert.
Today i am going hiking!!! for the first time in Argentina!!! We found a place to cook bratwursts (really called choripan) and go hiking by a river all day with  our whole entire zone so we invited them all. We are going to head over there with all 20 of us and just be hiking around and i couldn`t be more excited about it!
I love you all so much for all the great stuff you do for me, thank you so much for your support that you show in so many ways! (specifically money this last week haha, That was so awesome and it`s going to help  out so much). I`ll see you all super soon. A big hug

We fumigated the bats!!!!!!!

Mamzi
Señora Mamzi, this week is what i call victory. We fumigated the bats!!! I watched all their terrible little souls scutter out of my apartment and fly in to the hot hot sun in the middle of the day. Victory!! I`m pretty sure i read in a book somewhere that they`re alergic to the sun so i sure don`t hope they come back. We found out that the bats are really in the bricks of our apartment! Argentina makes all it`s buildings with these red bricks that are like completely hollow so the bats just turned our walls into their bat cave, but it´s a good thing that we, as humans, have fire!!! and thus can create smoke.
There was also a lot of great things that happened with the work of the Lord. This week we traveled more than ever! in 2 days (48 hours) we traveled a little over 20 hours on 4 different buses. It was insane and i even love traveling like that. I got to go to a place i have never been before called Gualeyguaychù, It`s a huge city that`s kind of like Cedar. nobody really wants to live there and it`s always windy haha. But to be honest i loved it a ton! We got to go on changes with a few missionaries who are struggling quite a bit.
In my area everything is going really good. One of the people getting married (Milagros) brought her little sister to church to come ``get baptized`` also haha. Everyone is just progressing so much and the members are working harder than ever. One family in our ward brought 6 investigators to church this week!! Then 5 other investigators showed up with other families. It was the most people i have ever had in church before, Over a fifth of the people in church yesterday weren`t members. Just think how crazy that would be in Utah haha other story.
I have great news!!! about the packages there might be hope. First off, follow the instructions from last time if you`re going to send a new one, but what you need to do is a customs declaration over there before you send it here. And if you can get the numbers of the last packages that you sent (like the one from Christmas) and then give me the numbers i can go the the mail office and figure out where they are and how they can get to me!!!! So that would be really really really cool if you could do that so i could see what great stuff i get for Christmas las year! :D But if you can`t don`t worry about it too much. You might feel like i feel like i never get anything from home, but i have the biggest stack of letters and pictures out of any missionary in my whole mission and surely in the world. I`m super spoiled as a missionary because dad sends me so many heart-felt letters and all the pictures i need to feel like i`m still there at home with you all.
Hey, i`ll see you all real soon! The time is flying by, i can`t believe we`re already in September!!!! My friend Stephe Montague goes home this month already! That means i`m the next dead guy. Much love,
Elder Emett

Wudda great week!

Hi Mom,
Wudda great week! Except they just get faster and faster and faster!!! I hit 6 months until i come home so we went and bought ice cream and ate it like 12 stories above the ground on a nice, hot day right in the middle of winter. That`s just the craziest thing ever that I only have that time left, I don`t even remember what your house is like or what living by all my family is like. It`s ok, i have a reeeeeaaaallly great family here so no worries :) I did remember one thing that i miss while i was sitting in church yesterday haha. As i sat in sacrament meeting i just thought to myself, ``gosh oh jee i want a mint or like a little candy right now.`` I remembered how, if i scored a seat next to Dad, he would always give me little mints and such no matter my age, all the way up until i left on the mission.
My companion and i know how to work and we are doing just exactly that, it`s so much fun. We`re great friends and we can talk about anything, but when we get into the street it`s strictly business and hard work because we have the same goals and understand eachother really good. The thing that we are most excited about right now is that, in the second week of September, we have 4 baptisms planned. We are teaching a lady who just wants to get married to get baptized. She is going to get married on the 12th in the morning and wants to get baptized the same afternoon because she just doesn`t want to wait at all, SHE`S SO AWESOME. Then we have 3 little girls who want to get baptized that same week. We are really just waiting for the parents of all of the children to support them a little bit more.
This week, luckily, we didn´t have very many problems with bats. There was one night when the bat woke me up because it was just yelling with it`s supersonic screech at like 3 in the morning. I really thought it was going to get out and fly around the room like Daniela, but i just hid in my sheets for lack of courage. Finally i worked up the courage, got the flashlight and covered it all up again, but from then on we haven`t heard them at all!
There was a baptism this week in the branch of the sister missionaries of an 8 year old girl. The kid who baptized her is about to go on the mission and is just new with the whole church, he has been a member for like 2 years. Well, nobody practiced the baptism beforehand and the little girls legs came up like 3 times in a row and she just started bawling. It was a weird thing for me because we try so hard to get to that point with investigators, but she had a way bad experiece with it and left before the ordinance could be done right. The sisters are going to be passing by and teaching how to bend your knees for a week until she can just do that little part. It was a super weird experience.
Mom!!! i don`t know about that package you say you`re going to send me. If you send it, it needs to be a box with lots of pictures of the Virgen Mary on it. I would love it!! but i`m nice and tired of not getting them after you send them, it`s bugs me a lot. I don`t know how they actually got here when they did. I am getting new stuff though, I got 10 new pairs of garments this last week from a lady that traveled to the temple. Thank you so much for the money, it`s getting used well!!
I`m doing great, i`m glad you`re doing great and i`ll see you all too soon! Love you!

He totally used a pokeman move on me!!!

Mamzi,
I`ve had something happen to me that i never thought would happen. In the mission you always hear about Elders who were in the mtc together getting back together in the mission to be zone leader and those stories are like legends... It has happened!!!!
I don´t know why the Lord knew that i needed this, but my new companion is an Elder who was in my same district in the mtc. His name is Elder taylor. He`s from Payson, Utah. I just feel like God put me together with my old best friend. The coolest part is that we`re going to work a ton together. In our first week together we have already beat a lot of goals that Elder Sands and i could never reach, we just know eachother so good. It`s a lot more easy to be open because we already know all our strengths and exactly what we were like in the mtc (when we started) so we can see how far we have come easily.
So i`m way too stoked about that. We`re about to complete 6 months in the mission!! That`s so crazy, i can`t even believe how fast all this mission stuff is flying by. I hope i`m getting it, I can only pray that i realize how important these two years really are right now.
Branson is getting the priesthood already???!!! that has to be some of the craziest news i have ever heard, he`s just a little rugrat that guy.
this week the bats were screaching a wailing all night so my new compy and i just said, ´´that`s enough!´´ So we pulled the cover off of the air vent and turned it on so it would shoot the bats out toward us. It shot out three of them and we were able to catch all of them and put them in buckets, but when we turned the air on it shot out all their poop and sheddings and stuff all over our beds haha so we`ll probably get sick really soon, but we got at least three of them out. we put them in buckets on the ground and started studies because we were already late. During studies i stood up to go to the bathroom and on the way i shook one of the containers to see if the bat was still there... it wasn`t!!! after like 10 minutes of frantic searching we found the little intruder and in the process of catching him his teeth got stuck to the carpet so we had to use a spatula and unstick the poor fella. While i was prying him up from the carpet he totally used a pokemon move on me called screech! I realized it in the moment, but there was nothing i could do, he had already lowered my defense so one of the other elders had to go do the rest.
We decided that we had to get rid of the things or they were all going to escape and we don`t need that kind of battle, we have other things to focus on.
That is pretty much how my is, bats. I`m loving it here and i`ve never been more excited to work and get things done. I`ll see you all very soon,
Elder Emett loves you

It's true, my companion went home this week!!

It`s true, it`s all true! my companion went home already! It didn`t even feel real, and it kind of felt like i was going home more than ever this last week. The week was suuuuuper fun! Mostly we just told people goodbye and at food at their houses and had good moments together.
We threw a party for my companion on saturday night. Some guy made like 4 of the very biggest pizzas i`ve ever seen in my whole life and lots of other people brought cakes and cookies and empanadas and all kinds of great food. I colaborated with a few members to make a movie of my companion with a ton of pictures from his mission so we watched that too. Later on in the party i tricked my companion to go outside with me where a few kids were waiting with huge buckets of water with a ton of crap in it. I held him in place as they drenched him and he was a super good sport about it, but later we realized that he didn`t have time to clean anything so he just left those clothes here in the mission haha oops.
On sunday the president of the mission came to our church because we had district conference and he is in charge of our district. He gave a really good talk and Elder Sands also gave a really awesome talk about all the changes he has seen here in our area. After the meeting they just all left together to go home and we were all just watching them and waving goodbye... super sad time.
Another Elder left at the same time as my companion so I became companions with his companion because we were both left alone. Yesterday we had one of the very best lessons i have ever taught in my mission. We are teaching a less active and his girlfriend who live together, It´s not that we even taught really good, but i just got to see how much they are progressing. When we first started teaching them they didn´t even really want to listen, but yesterday they talked about how they are looking for the soonest date possible to get married so he can live worthy and eventually recieve the priesthood. They have such faith and i`m so grateful to be part of it all for them. Yesterday they were saying thanks to me and i pretty much just started crying because they have changed so much. They guy says he understands now and feels like a whole new person.
I`m getting a companion from my mtc district!!! His name is elder Taylor and i could not be more excited. We definately got along the very best out of everyone in our whole district. He will be coming to my area so i get to stay here with all my best friends. Up until now we have 3 matrimonies set up for next month!!! Things are really looking up.
I also love that Kolby is dating Danielle haha. Her grandma wanted me to date her in a really weird situation... that i was going on a mission the next day and i was totally dating Laura buuuuuuttt I´m glad she finally got around to dating someone in our family hahaha. that`s neat. It´s alright, i`m going to Boston anyways
This week there is a lot of work to do and i`m stoked about all of it because i don`t even feel like i work anymore. I just hang out with members and investigators, be friends with them and watch their lives change. I´ll see you all just around the bend

Loosing sleep over bats!!

Mumzi,
Yahoooo!!! it´s a girl!!!! Matt and Shellie make absolutely adorable girls. And she is due by December, still before i get home! That seems really crazy to me. My companion leaves me to go home on sunday and it honestly feels like i´m going home on sunday with him. I have never before had a companion that ended the mission being my companion, it´s a really weird experience that i don´t like at all. I guess we´re probably going to have a lot of parties this week though.
The last week has just been really crazy like all the other weeks i´ve been here in concordia, it´s just normal now and i really like it a lot more than regular weeks. We went to Rosario for a meeting again, that´s always a nice big travel i always like. We also worked a lot and really hard with the time that we did have.
The bats were really bugging me and not letting me sleep a lot so i moved beds the other night. Ever since i got attacked by Daniela (the bat) i´ve kind of just anticipated a bat flying out of the air vent every night and smacking me in the face so it´s really hard to get a good nights sleep these days. On the bright side my companion got a ton better this last week! He doesn´t even have to stay inside anymore, i get to go out and work with him now.
I took money out 2 times this week because we had to make that trip to Rosario and back and the money system of the mission isn´t really as fast as it could be in this moment. Don´t worry about me! I´m happy, healthy and i´m having an indescribable experience. Much love,  Elder Emett

A Ton of Success

Mom,
Yeah, it was this cold last year too, and yes, i actually do wear that huge coat haha. I wear sweaters mostly, but the big coat a lot too. My companion really isn´t doing so hot. He´s super sick, last night he puked like 4 times then woke some missionaries up to give him a blessing. I didn´t even hear anything at all, i just slept through the whole thing. He´s in a really weird situation because he can´t really go to the hospital here because they don´t really help. He talks to the mission doctor a lot and the doctor just gives him advice and tells him what to buy and how much to take. He is losing a ton of weight, but eating a ton still so it´s pretty weird. He just plans on going to the doctor when he gets home in 2 weeks.
This week i had was really great!! We had a ton of success and the members helped us out more than ever. We had like 3 activities during the week and to all of them a ton of people went. This week in church we had 8 people who are coming to know the gopel! It was really cool because there were only just over 40 people so a huge percentage were just investigators.
I did divisions this week with one of my old companions named Elder Nelson who is going home at the same time as my companion. It was way fun to be with him again, I felt like i was having a sleepover with like chuck because he just seems like one of my friends from way long ago. We got to work hard with him, but he´s ending pretty bad and it´s sad to see. He has had almost no baptisms in his mission and he feels like he has not really been a successful missionary because of that.
I get to travel again this week to Rosario with Elder Sands and, to be honest, im really looking forward to it. I only get to be his companion like half of the time because we are always on splits with other missionaries so it´ll be really cool to have some nice bus bonding time right before he goes home.
Thanks so much for everything mom, tell dad thanks for all the pictures! I think Shellie`s baby is going to be a boy! and i think he`ll be named Marquitos and have super dark black hair. We`ll see you next week!

I lost a toe nail!!!

I´m an uncle again!! that´s so great!!! I´m seriously seriously looking forward to those pictures of little Parker James. Ooh, i didn´t realize how close the baby was. I totally made Josh write me a huge email about his mission, i hope i didn´t bug him that much with it. And Zach, my brother, is getting married this week??!!! that´s so crazy, you all have so much fun and great stuff going on. Mom, that would be super cool if you could send me at least a few pictures by email of all this craziness. I love Dad´s letters more than anything in the whole world, but by the time the argentines give me the mail i´ve missed the party by a long shot.
You should take a picture of me to the wedding so i can be there too and support my brother Zakk! Tell him i love him and i´m proud of him, I approve of his wife and i´m way excited to have another sister in law, especially Brooke! :)
My week was a little crazy too! My companion got parasites in his lil´ ol´ stomach and started getting way sick, but luckily i´ve never had to stay home for it. He stays in the apartment and we call a member to come over and hang out with him while i go on splits with a different member. He really doesn´t sleep anymore at all, I guess the parasites are bugging him real bad, but he´s taking a lot of pills and the doctor says he´ll be just fine in a few days. We have still been able to work really hard in our area and get everything done we needed to. There is so much to do!!!! My companion is going home soon and he really wants to do his very best this last part of his mission so that´s what we are doing. We´re changing a lot of stuff and making sure that the whole zone is working as effectively as possible. I´m enjoying it a lot, i feel like the zone is improving and like we´re doing a really good job in our area.
This week i had a super weird experience, i lost my toe-nail!!! I thought of when jason used to explain to me about marathon runners who would loose thier toe-nails because they just ran too much! I´m more than positive that my toe-nail departed for reasons very similar to those of the marathon runners. It was hurting for the last week or so and it turned completely white. I didn´t touch it until one day when it was just falling off so i pulled it off super easily and it didn´t hurt at all, but i guess that means i´m walking enough, eh?
This past week we really saw a lot of miracles in the whole zone. There is a website called ´apresurar la obra de salvación´ on lds.org that we decided to use as a zone. I don´t know what it´s called in english, but we are using it to teach all of the members. It´s a website based off of the transmission from like 3 weeks ago. It teaches the members how to work with the missionaries and how they can do good in their personal call to preach the gospel. If you don´t know about it already you should look for it because it´s really what´s going to change the work at least here in Argentina.
I love you all so much! You´re the greatest family ever, i´m way excited for all of what´s about to happen in the family. I´ll see you soon, Elder Emett

Super Crazy Week!!

Mam,
I´m super jealous about camp mary. I only have vague memories of that place, but it seems like the family always goes there so i´ll get to know it way better soon.
This week was just super crazy, like my last month and a half. We cleaned the apartment all day on monday then we had the day of preparation the next day then we had transfers all day on wednesday so we were in the bus station a lot of the day and just calling people all day even during the few lessons we had set up. On thursday we left in the morning for a meeting we had on friday. We left at like 12 on thursday and got to Rosario by bus at like 8 on that same day.
The meeting was the most beautiful thing ever. That was the first meeting we have had as leaders of the mission since the satelite broadcast about missionary work so our president and the assistents just talked about how everything needs to change right now. Nothing we do can be without members, the missionaries are no longer allowed to baptize nor confirm people, that will be the job of the members. Teaching people without the members being there has become something useless and they finally realized that and taught us how to fix is so we don´t try to just leave and uselessly teach people all day without having the help from the members. The missionary work is really changing like 100 percent and we´re making sure that our mission catches the wave and makes the necessary changes in ideals.
We left at like 4 in the afternoon to go home and traveled to one city like 4 hours away by bus. We got to that city hoping that a bus would come soon, but the next one leaving would be at 2 in the morning!!! so we waited from like 8:30 until like 2 in the morning to get on the bus, but the bus didn´t actually get there until like 3:30 am. We got to our apartment at like 8 in the morning.... just when we needed to start studies!! haha so we studied and that same day we did sooooo much good work. There is a girl in our branch named Nazarena that will get baptized on the 20th of July and be the first baptism this ward has had in over a year.... that seems to be a pretty common theme here, there aren´t a lot of missionaries that want to  baptize or do good. But i´m here to change that! This girl Nazarena is super cool, she´s 17 but looks like she´s younger than becca. Her sister that lives like 300 miles away is a member and an awesome example for her so she´s going to get baptized eventhough her mom and dad aren´t members.
The very coolest part of this whole week was 2 things- A family from my last week sent me a package!!! so, eventhough i don´t really get packages from home, my families here in Argentina care for me really good. It was that family that let me use their computer to talk to you on mother´s day.
The second coolest thing ever is the excitement of the work right now!  As missionaries we just get to see prophesies get fulfilled every single day. The lord is really preparing all the people to listen to me!!! i feel uncomfortable at times thinking about all the responsibility that i have and all the confidence the Lord has in me. My companion and i don´t knock doors anymore. It´s not that we´re not obedient or we just don´t want to, but there is just so much work to do!!! All the members are trusting the words of the prophets and inviting them to listen to us. Every time we talk to the members they tell us about their friends or loved ones who want us to come by and we honestly don´t have time to do everything we have to do right now. I´ve never felt this way in the mission before and i´ve never worked so hard either. Every day we go on divisions with the members because we simply don´t have enough time for every investigator right now. One member asked my companion if he had parkinsons disease the other day because he was just shaking from how excited he is, he honestly just can´t sit still.
I´m doing great and i hope you are all doing the same. I´ll see you soon.
Love, Elder Emett

We definitely have a BAT problem!

Mams,
Yes, I definately went to the missionary broadcast last night, but we´re not so sure if that´ll affect what we are doing here. We´re kind of still in a 3rd world country so i´m not so sure if we´ll change anything at all, but it was a super awesome conference and all the members afterward were asking us, ´´How can i help you? When do you want me to come work wih you?´´ So it worked!!! yahoo
There is so much stuff going on at home!!! that´s so crazy that Zach´s getting married so soon! They´ve already waited like 5 years, i don´t see what the problem is with waiting one more year until i get home, but i hope you can at least have a picture of me there so i can attend. Are they going to get married in the temple!!?? I know that was a goal they had, but i´m not sure how well they went about doing that. Michelle is tired of being pregnant haha, the longer it cooks, the cuter it looks! I made that up just now, you can patent it if you want. And thank you, my dear sweet mother, sooooo very much for the money. I have already taken it out and i´m going to find the smartest way possible to buy new shoes with it!
This week was just weird. It started off weird and it ended weird. So ever since i got to this new pench they have told me stories about a bat that lives in the cooler vent named Daniela. They found a bat one time in the pench and named it Oscar then they got rid of it, but there were still sounds in the cooler vent from that time on and they say that it´s the wife of Oscar who has come back to seek revenge for the life of her beloved husband. The wife´s name is Daniela.
I´m a really heavy sleeper so i would never hear anything as we slept, but some mornings the other elders would talk about how Daniela had come the night before because they heard noises in the air vent while they were sleeping. I never believed them and just thought they were joshing around with me. On Wednesday morning at 5 a.m. i was just snoozing away when i feel something slap me in the face like three times so i just swat it away and yell, ´´Elders, Daniela lives! She attacked me!´´ They didn´t do anything except cover their heads with their blankets so that´s what i did too and we just waited for Daniela to stop flying around. Eventually my companion went and got an ice-cream bucket and we trapped her in there. Later i was checking around the room to see if i could feel safe going back to sleep and i found another one!!!! Just waiting in the curtains. We definately have a bat problem and now i believe all the stories. I included a picture that we were able to take from when Daniela attacked me, my companion´s a great photographer.
Then at the end of the week the Lord blessed us a lot and everything just seemed to work out really good. 4 Investigators came to church and that´s pretty rare here, but we´re pretty sure that we´ll be seeing a few baptisms soon and a lot of salvation. I love you mom, thank you so much for all you do! Tell Dad i love Him! Send the family my greetings from south america.    Elder Emett

Email to dad!

Thanks dad!
It´s a lot easier to be successful and happy in the mission when there is a dad like you behind the scenes that writes like 4 letters every single week! I owe so much thanks to you it´s not even funny. Happy father´s day!!! i love you for all you do for me and all that love you are always showing me. yeah, I´ll see you soon, really really soon!
 Love, Elder Emett

Email from Ben's companions ward family!

Jill,

If you are from Saint George and your son served in Santa Fe it's likely he is Daniel's companion. If so, hope you enjoy these notes about their work together.

21 May 2013:
I am going to be moving to the area right next to mine. It´s called Nebel. I will be with Elder Emett from St. George, Utah, who was in my district in Santa Fe. We`ll both be new to the area.

27 May 2013:
I am super excited to work with Elder Emett. We received a ton of revelation for the zone and the plan of action for the month of June.

3 Jun 2013:
I really like working with Elder Emett here. We were able to get a lot done and meet all the investigators and most of the members in two days of hard work. Teaching with him is super easy. We both discern at the same speed and almost always want to share the same scripture...just another testimony that we´re teaching by the Spirit.

10 Jun 2013:
We worked super hard this week, and put up some amazing numbers. We gained the confidence of the missionaries and members teaching in unity and according to needs. I´ve never taught more effectively and with more unity than with Elder Emett. We have the same style, are thinking the same thing. When we plan, we hardly debate, it's just consensus, and move on.

Elder Emett is a really good example for me. He works hard, is completely obedient and wants to help the missionaries. He`s there to make sure that I`m working full capacity all the way until the end.

Elder Sands was in band with my kids in high school. He and our youngest daughter are the same age and have become especially good friends--both attend the University of Virginia. Daniel is the oldest son and second of three children from a wonderful Jewish family here in Burke. He became interested in the Church through an outstanding group of lds kids he met in band.

Actually, it's possible you may know one of the young men, Michael Stewart. He is currently serving as an Assistant to the President in the St. George Mission--be on the lookout for a super tall, super terrific missionary.

Daniel was baptized exactly one year before he left on his mission. He is very dear to our family and our ward. He is still so new to the Church, we consider it a direct answer to prayer every time he is blessed to serve with a hard-working, faithful, positive companion. If the Elder Emett he is currently working with is your son, please accept my personal thanks and the gratitude of the entire Burke Ward.

Jealous about dinner at the Cheesecake Factory!

Mum,
Yahooooo Jason!! give him 2 pats on the back from me, would you? actually, will you pass him the phone? ... Dude, Jason! Great work!!! That´s so sick, i want to go to a fancy school too when i get home. mhmm, yep.. uh huh.. But you´re still going to be at my home with your whole family when i get home, right? ok, ok, ok, i approve of you going then. Do work brother!
Is this Mom again? alright. I´m way jealous about all your trips. I was able to go on splits this week with a missionary who is from Las Vegas! But i´m especially jealous about your dinner at the cheesecake factory, that place seems right about too good to be true right now.
Yes, my companion is Elder Sands and that makes me soo happy that they wrote you all nice like that! You really did do a great job at raising me :) I guess i didn´t tell you anything about my comp though, huh? Well he is a convert! He got baptized almost exactly 3 years ago and he is finishing the mission in like 2 months. He got baptized, waited a year to go to the temple, and now he´s been on the mission for 2 years. I don´t think there exists a more recent convert than him. Something that i love is that he was a jew! His dad is a jew, his mom is catholic and the 3 children got raised as jews. He was always a leader in his sinagog.. is that how you spell it? idk. sinagoga in spanish. He was like the youth leader and all that jazz, but then a few of his friends introduced him to the church so obviously he got baptized. I love when he bears his testimony because he didn´t believe in Jesus Christ before and now he can testify soooo powerfully about actually getting to know Christ. I make us bear our testimonies before we leave every day and i always tell him to bear his testimony about his conversion because it is really just something incredibly powerful and i never get sick of hearing it. He is an amazing leader and posseses some of the greatest characteristics of a leader i have ever seen, but he is leaving the mission soon so the struggle is helping him to stay excited about the work and want to work hard every day.
This week we had a huge conference with the president of the mission and the APs and everything. I really really loved it because it was all about teaching better. They called us the night before and asked if we would give an hour workshop about how to leave commitments with the investigators. We planned out our hour long workshop in 10 minutes the morning of and i was so nervous during the whole thing that i was sweating! It was cool though, because i could go around and watch everybody teaching and give them tips to help them out.
This week was pretty good though, my companion got sick one day so we stayed in the pench almost all day and i had no idea what to do so i just watched movies and read in the ensign magazines. God works in really mysterious ways sometimes because as i was watching one of the movies and then reading in one of the ensigns i started to think a ton about the plan of salvation and apply it to my life and that day i received the strongest spiritual confirmation i have ever had about the plan that God has for me. I got way excited to go and help other people have that experience i had just had and learn about the restoration, but my companion was all sick. That probably happened because there are some trials coming so i´ll let you know about those when they get here haha.
Mamzi, i have a huge favor to ask you. There is an awesome family who always gives us food here in the ward and she wants to try a typical food from the U.S. and i thought, ´´what better than funeral potatoes!´´ Typical U.S. and typical mormon, right? haha, but I would love for you to send me a recipe of them. If you could, that would be so great! I also have to thank you a ton for the money you have sent! it really has helped out a ton and, i don´t want to worry you a ton cuz i´m trying to find a way to deal with it, but when i got my shoes fixed the other time, the guy fixed them suuuuuper bad aaaand they broke again like 3 weeks later. There would be no trouble, except my only pair of working shoes are running out too, my foot is like just about touching the ground every time i step down. So maybe i have to just buy new ones because, according to my experience, they don´t know how to fix shoes here. Don´t worry a ton about it right now, i´ll be looking for some, but i´m really just put out about this whole shoe thing. It´s not working out so good. Send the whole family my love and send Kolby saludos. Love you, Elder Emett

Whoa, what a fast week!!!!

Ma´m,
Whoa, what a fast week!!! Being a leader for the first time, my companion and i talked with the assistent last week and just decided that we have to have an example of an area as far as doing work and working with members and all that so this week we just worked our butts right off. That may have been one of the roughest weeks physically in my whole mission, but we did it and we reached almost all our goals this week! Another thing that snuck up on us was that it just all happened sooo fast!
I was able to do divisions this week to work for a day with an elder who has a little more time than me and it was awesome to be able to help him out with his area and try to give him a little motivation with his companion. also we were able to finally meet all our investigators in our area and they are so sweet!!! i´m way stoked. i´m pretty sure we are going to be helping lots of people get married here because there are tons of couple living together.
My pench, as you can see, is so awesome!!!! I feel like i live in a penthouse at times. there is like a gas leak so it´s pretty much way dangerous, but we just close the kitchen door so there´s no drama. our branch has recently had some really big problems so i guess The Lord sent me here to help a lot with that, the branch president is really young and really doesn´t know what he is doing, but he´s excited to work and help out the branch.
Hey, you need to tell jash and fuller happy birthday for me, ok? Josh, haha, he´s a dad already. I hope everything goes good with the move that will unite the emett family even more! Send the family my love, i´ll see you all soon!

Watched the Avengers on the bus!!!

Sweet Mami,
I´m super jealous about your trip to vegas!!! But i went on a trip too so it´s ok. This week was super busy, We went to Rosario (The main city of the mission, like 8 hours away) for a conference of the leaders. It was so expensive!!! It costed us 220 pesos to go there and 220 to return. They give us 500 pesos a month..... I would have never had money to go there if you had not given me so much money to fix my shoes THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! The Lord´s really looking out for me here, thanks for being part of that.
But the trip was soooo worth it! We went to a meeting with the zone leaders (24 of us) and the president and the assistents where they just did workshops and we learned how we can help our zones more. One part that was pretty hard is that i was sick out of my mind and i could hardly pay attention. I was blowing my nose and coughing and pretty much just dying the whole entire time so it was hard to pay attention, but I still learned a ton and was able to really see for the first time how much the President loves the missionaries and worries about them and how great the assistents are. One of the assistents is named Elder Yarro and he´s pretty much my hero.
I was in the mission house in Rosario from Tuesday night until Thursday night because i had to do some more visa stuff and the whole time i was just like a zombie from being so sick. I saw a lot of great friends and was able to work for a night there in Rosario with a missionary i started the mission with so it was way cool to see all our progression and how much better we are able to help people now.
On the way back on Thursday night they showed a movie on the bus and guess which movie they showed. Wrong! It was no kind of church movie, it was the avengers!!!! So it was pretty hard to not watch that one. My options were to sleep or watch the best movie that has come out since i left.
Then we got back to our area, still not knowing anyone, and started to work! I´m way happy with the work we were able to do, we only had 3 days this week to work so we just busted our buns. My companion is such a great missionary and really just an example. He´s an awesome leader, but he´s going home in 10 weeks and he´s counting so sometimes he gets a little down, but we keep on working anyway!
I´m learning a ton and having a ton of great experiences here in the cute little city of Concordia. About the scout stuff- like an eagle badge and handkerchief if that´s possible. He would be the happiest camper there ever was. And yes, there is the organization of scouts here, but it´s always through the catholic church. And remember for when you send it that you need to put stickers of the Virgen Mary or it will not get to me!!
We had a talent show this week too. It was a little unorganized, but i´ve found out how to just accustom myself to the disorder so it wasn´t that bad. They didn´t have a whole lot of people doing stuff so i played a few songs on guitar and was surprised that i still remembered some stuff! Mainly people just did silly dances and it was hilarious.
Well i gotta go pay the bills and feed the pig so i´m gonna head out. See you soon Mommy!! :)

Another Great Week!

Mams,
This was another great week! super crazy, but great. So they sent me to a city called Concordia to be the zone leader of the Zone called Entre Rios which is the biggest zone in my whole entire mission and, being the biggest, has the most missionaries in it. I live in an apartment building on the tenth floor right across from the ´´stake´´ center. Not stake because it´s only a district, but serves just like a stake center. I live with 5 other missionaries, 4 of which are latins from mexico, honduras, uruguay, and argentina. My area is right on the edge of a river and if we were to cross that river we would be in uruguay so we´re right on the border. My companion and i are doing a white wash into our area which means it´s both of our first times in the area, he wasn´t there before i got there, we have to learn about the area together.
There are no wards in our whole zone, only branches because the church still isn´t very big so there are a few missionaries who are branch presidents. The mexican we live with is the branch president of a pretty big branch so, pretty much, he´s just a bishop!
My companion says that zone leaders have a ton of extra stuff to do, but up until now i haven´t really done anything. I´ve kind of just been hanging around and watching my companion except for when we are out working. The brach here is way cool because they all want to help us and they all love the missionaries a ton!
I have a huge favor to ask of you! there is this guy that totally loves scouts here and all he wants is like an american scout badge and a handkerchief so if there are like any badges or anything laying around and you were about to send any kind of package, would you send that too? I would surely appreciate it and i´m positive he would appreciate it too much, this guy´s seriously nuts about scouts!
I´m super stoked that Zac is going to get married!!!!!! Bummer i can´t be there, but i´ll surely be there in spirit :) I´ll see you next week at the summer party!! Love Elder Em

Really really really great week!!!!

MOMZIES,
Really really really great week this week! yes, the lady got baptized and she´s absolutely my favorite! Her name is Zunilda and the coolest part about the baptism is that Ever already recieved the priesthood so he baptized her! Ever also already found a girlfriend in the church!!!!!! It´s so cool becuase he didn´t get converted for her, he met her after he got converted at an activity of the church. I´m way way way too happy about how that is going right now, i´m so privileged to be part of his conversion.
Yahooooooooo for Zac! por fin, eh? That´s so great!! haha finally! Send a shout out to him for me would you? Please tell me they´re going to get married in 10 months, that seems like a good waiting period to me.
I love this area like my home!!! But i just recieved the bad news. I´m getting transfered :( I´m going to a place called Entre Rios to be with one of the greatest missionaries in this whole mission. My companion is a jewish convert and he used to be my district leader, but we´re going to be zone leaders together so i´m way excited at the same time, but i´ve got some heavily mixed emotions about it. The worst news of all is that they changed all the cell phones last night so i can´t call anyone in my area to see when we can visit them!! This is kind of like leaving home again, but i can´t invite anyone to my farewell and they don´t know. Also my district leader here is pretty much one of my best  friends of all time. His name is Elder Solomon and he´s from Texas. He´s just a giant texan and super proud about it, Imma miss him tons.
But yes about the shoes! They´re getting fixed right now actually :) And i´m going to be able to pick them up today. Thank you so much for that! I love you mom! Send the whole family a ton of love for me, I´ll see you all too soon.   Elder BenEmett
P.S.- 2 Pictures from the baptism then a picture of a hard candy sandwich i made (Chuck´s idea)

I'm super happy so don't worry at all:)

Mamer,
It was great to talk to you all too! and Matt is right, i´m super happy so don´t worry at all :) YAHOO!!! another little Mathew and Shellie! I was so nervous to talk and now i´m even more nervous to be coming home to so many children i won´t know. Why wasn´t Zach there? That was a little bit of a bummer, but it´s all good.
So about the family that let me use the computer. That´s really the coolest family ever!! the parents are both converts to the church and both left for the mission right after getting converted. The mom got kicked out of her house at 15 years old because she joined the church, but lived with some members then went on a mission then met her husband. All of their children have gone on the mission so far. They have had 3 so far. 2 went to colombia and 1 went to like chile or somewhere. They have a kid with my same age who is going to leave on the mission at the end of this year, he had to wait because he has some heart problems, but they got it fixed so he could go on the mission. He always goes on splits with us and helps us teach all the people. That girl is already doing her papers and she´s planning on leaving at the end of this year too because she´s already 19. Then they have one other daughter who is 16 and she´s kind of girly so they´re not sure if she´ll go, but they sure are supporting her to go. Yesterday just like 10 minutes before we talked the dad´s second grandkid was born, but he told us he was going to be there so we could talk to our families with his computer so he left the hospital and he came back to the house. He recieved a text as Elder Monckeberg was talking with his family that the baby had been born! He´s such an amazing person.
Yeah, i went to another bank that worked a lot better and i took all 200 out already. Thank you sooooooo much for that!! That´s really going to save me in more than one way. Sometimes the salvation is monetary, ¿Qué va a hacer?
Ok, we´ll talk to you soon, eh? Thanks for everthing! besos.

Get's to use Skype for mothers day!!!!!

Mam,
This week was too fast! we did some services and had a ton of lessons with members so it was just really busy and awesome. Most of the week was just planning visits and way smooth. We haven´t been able to talk to the scientist yet, but we´re trying to take things at his pace. We didn´t have a baptism this last week because the guy we were going to baptize is not ready, but he´s certainly trying! His name is guillermo and he came to church yesterday. He walked right in and asked where the bishop was and the bishop was right in front of him so the bishop said, ´´i´m right here.´´ Then Guillermo said, ´´ here, take this,´´ handing the bishop his tithing. I think that´s the first time i´ve ever seen an investigator pay his tithing. He also gave his testimony during the fast and testimony meeting. It was short, but he basically said he knows that this church is true and that´s why he comes here. He has a way to go with smoking and his girlfriend, but he´s progressing really great! Also we are teaching an old lady named Zunilda who is going to get baptized on the 18th and she´s a lot more sure about it.
And you´re totally right that i´m going to be calling this week! But even better we got a few members who told us we could use their skype!!!! So i´m not totally sure about how that all works out, but i´m sure we´ll figure it out. Just tell Josh that i´m going to use skype so he can give me all kinds of little codes to type in and things like that. You still have skype, right? nice. And i´m going to call at 6 in the afternoon here which should be at like 3 in the afternoon there. It might be a little bit sooner, but that´s the plan more or less :)
As for Jason´s question- first of all tell him i´m super sorry cuz that blows!! His sounds way worse than mine, I forgot a couple days but i could always still smell stuff and such. The headaches really were the worst part, that took the longest to go away and sometimes i´m convinced that they come back, buuuuuut all the super painful ones were gone in just like a couple short weeks! I sure hope his is only as bad as mine was.
I´ll talk with you very soon, face to face! :) So i´m out for today. Love you mom.  -Elder Emett

Ever got the priesthood!

Moms,
Yahoo!!! New Children :) I´ve been telling tons of people this week that i was going to have a new niece this week named Aydree. She sounds adorable! A little blondy in the Fuller family. That sucks soooo bad what happened to Jason!!! I totally have no idea what that was like, i don´t feel like mine was that bad at all. I´ll definately be praying for Him and His family. Keep me updated, eh?
As for me the things just keep going real good here! Ever got the priesthood this week at church and got ordained to be a priest. Zunilda is still going good to be baptized on the 18th of next month which will probably be the week before i leave here. She´s just such an adorable old lady, she´s always saying how much she loves us and always always asks us if she can give us food.
I have quite a dilema... So i left on the mission with 2 pairs of shoes and one pair got totally destroyed in my last area so i´m down to my last pair and this past week the bottoms just wore out completely. If you could possibly send me some nice shoes or maybe like some money so i could re-sole these ones that would be sooooo so cool. There´s a place right by my pench where i could get them re-soled and i hear it´s like 30 dollars so that would probably be whole lot cheaper than buying new ones and sending them all the way here... plus they might have the same luck as my Christmas pajamas.
As for new things, we taught a scientist who is like the very best of the best. I only know him by his first name, Julio, but we knocked his house a few days ago and passed again and taught him. He went to Princeton and his house is HUGE!!! We know he has a ton of prestige cuz we taught him with the bishop and the bishop is a doctor and only recognized Him by name for being a forerunner in science in Argentina. SUPER NEAT STUFF. Also we were doing service with some members here and we found a huge pumpkin!!! And they wanted to ask you for a recipe to pumpkin pie and also how you cook the seeds. They already tried to make pumpkin pie, but it just wasn´t the same. Or possibly the recipe for pumpkin cookies... if those even really use pumpkin.
See you soon!      Love, Elder Emett

Two more people lined up to be baptized!!

MOm,
Amanda and Jessica are already leaving? I don't believe you. and Jake Morley is going to Cali? that's just a vacation. Na, i'm kidding, don't tell him i said that please. Then kolby is moving in with kyle and kendall and... Remers? Josh Remers cuz last time you totally told me Dalton Reusch haha jeez i wish Kolby would talk to me.
I totally love Kjirsten's baby's name! Dree, that's super cute. I love how she jus comes up with all her own names. There is a ton of stuff going on over there!! i'm super happy that so much is happening and that the family is happy and doing good in life.
As for the update from Argentina- Things changed quite a lot this week. After baptizing ever we have a ton more time to be doing the things we couldn't do for the last 2 weeks so we had a ton of lessons and we were able to work a butt-load. I LOVED IT. I was always tired and i just felt so accomplished. I'm really really really trying to focus my mind on what's going on here in the area and i've been so much happier for doing that.
And also about the flood gates, yeah, we already have  two more people lined up to be baptized in the next month and they both seem legit. A few months ago we found an old lady named zunilda who we taught like 4 times, but she just didn't accept anything we said, she was only nice. last week one of our members told us she wanted us to come over and teach her friend. when we showed up to teach her, it was zunilda!!! And having the member there just made things so much more real and practical for her that she easily accepted to be baptized and accepted everything we said. That really strengthened my testimony of the members and the huge role that they play in missionary work. We as missionaries are almost useless without them!! DO MISSIONARY WORK!!!!! The missionaries need you, the Lord needs you.
But everything is still nice and hot here in Santa Fe. we're just waiting for things to cool down which should happen within a few weeks, they say. i'll call you soon! love you! Elder Emett

Bawled like a baby!

Thames,
No i didn´t get transfered!!! And is that the Reynoso family??!! That are soooo awesome!! if you talk to them more tell them i miss them. yeah, we had the baptisms!!!!!!!!! It was most definately one of the very most fulfilling and spiritual touching moments in my mission. They hadn´t baptized in my area for over a year so we spent a lot of time this week cleaning the font and it still was a little dirty, but nobody noticed.  Ever´s little brother is a priest so he got the chance to baptize Ever and it was the first time that he has baptized someone. The mom was sooooo happy! Her happiness would have made it all worth it, but the best part of all for me was when Ever got up after his baptism and gave his testimony. He talked about his family, how he knows this is the church of God and how he is just so grateful. I bawled like a baby. Just seeing his progress from when we started and how he has grown so much spiritually and i was able to be there for all of it and see the peace of the gospel just flow into his life.
A new missionary just came to my area and his name is Austin Barker. He is in my zone so we see eachother a ton. He was a defender on dixie high school´s soccer team. The one with red hair that always used head gear. It´s so awesome to be able to ask him about all my saint george peeps and see how everyone´s doing and what they´re all doing. I didn´t know Jace Wade got called to Argentina!!! That was probably the best news of all, i´m pretty sure i already knew most of what happened.
The other missionaries have 4 dogs that are always following them and this week we went over to their pench. Right before we got there the dogs had just been fighting so they were super bloody. I showed up and they all just started jumping on me and afterward i looked like i had just lost a gun fight, but i got it all washed off pretty good. That´s just what you have to expect when there are more dogs than people in a country and all of those dogs are strays haha great times.
Much love, see you next times! :)

Ever is getting baptized!!

Dear mams- Yes, i sure did love the general conference! But i wasn´t there for the part about the temple in Cedar!!! That´s super neat, how long will the Saint George temple close for? Cuz i need to go there right when i get home! Yeah, Ever made it to watch like the last half hour of the last session, but he still liked it and was way excited and even invited people to his baptism. I got a load of letters in between the conference sessions! like a hundred from dad and i´m so grateful for every single one! The pictures and support he sends me and the words he writes me are absolutely priceless.
So Ever is finally getting baptized this saturday! and his brother is going to baptize him! i´m way stoked for him, it´s really going to be the most golden little family time :) He´s so prepared i´m stoked about it. He just wants to bless his family and help reactivate his brother and mom and sister.
Thank you so much for the money for easters!!! I promise you it was well enjoyed and will yet be. Please tell shellie and amelia happy birthday for me! and give them all kinds of hugs and high fives. Today we have transfers so i´ll let you know someday if i changed areas, but more than likely i will not because only like 5 new missionaries are coming out of the 50+ that are waiting!! at least that´s what i heard. See you soon!!        love, Elder Emett

Lots of Chocolate Eggs!

My whole family,
Yeah, sure! Id love to tell you all about Easters here in Argentina. All the catholics get together and take olive branches back to their homes then they do activities for a week then they eat fish for one day then all go to church on sunday... tehe. Na, they do the whole easter egg stuff here too, but Easter, like Christmas, is just not that big of a holiday here unless youre catholic. When we came to church we got lots of chocolate eggs from the different organizations so it still felt like easter! AND YESSSSS Ever came to church!! and brought his family with him! his mom, as i said before, is a less active and so is his brother and his sister. Ever brought to church with him his mom, his brother, his sister and his sisters boyfriend who now wants to get baptized too!!! And, even better than that, he came in a suit and stayed for all the classes and, being all together in the last class, he participated a ton and the bishop was asking him questions and it all just worked out really great. then after church the bishop had a meeting with him for like half an hour where he just basically explained that we, missionaries, are just passing by, but he really needs to get a testimony before he gets baptized. He told us that he feels ready so he will have his ...entrevista ( i cant think of that in english right now) this week and the next week well dunk him in the waters of covenants!!! Im so excited!!! Not just for having success, but that Evers getting baptized! and that his whole family is reactivating in the church.
I would absolutely love to have stuff from the United States to share with people here, but youre totally right, i dont know how sure it is that it will get here... i still dont have my christmas pajamas haha how silly. Thats it, its all just a big joke, the mail men here are just being silly, thats all :) Silly Carl Malone mailmen. Someone write them a tribute song. But some of the stuff gets here and i totally love every bit of it that reaches my hands so please dont be too afraid that you never send me anything else
I dont understand the whole thing about amandas boyfriend.. Theyre both leaving on missions?? Did they just recently get together? That just confuses me haha. But tell her Good luck for me!!! and to that humility is #1. Thats so exciting. we have only gotten like one nineteen year old girl here in our mission so far, but i feel like a wave of them are about to pour in in one week when we have transfers. And im almost positive im going to stay here in this area on the beach with my son. if i leave i wont be able to see Evers baptism and i would cry for 1 day and 2 months.
Imma get going, but ill see you at the jubilee of trees! love, Elder Emett
