Going to be training a greeny!!!!!!!

Dearest Mother,
I did not see that coming at all either. I´m going to miss her too. I don´t even know how i feel about it hearing it right now, but i´m not as sad as i thought i´d be. I loved her for everything, especially how she supported me and was always sure to show me that. I can only keep thinking about that saying, ´´Missionaries leave their families for 2 short years so other families can be together forever´´ I love thinking about that because i know i´m going to see her again. When grandpa passed away i believed people when they said i would see him again, but now i know i´m going to see them again. The prophet of God sent me to a different country to teach other people about how we (as members of His church) have so much faith, confidence and peace when things like this happen. I really can´t imagine what you´re going through as a daughter, i just know that the sting is temporary. I know that we´ll all see her again. It´s certain that she is once again reunited with grampa and all her daughters who she misses! I love you mom, be strong!! It´s just a step in this eternal path we´re all following.
My week was really good! I met a nice man who honestly thought we were from the CIA haha. Also i found out that i´m going to get split up from my little peruvian compy!! :( He´s already all grown up and headed on to bigger and better things! I´m going to be staying here in my area in Santa Fe and i´m going to be training a greeny!!!!!!!! I haven´t met him yet, i´ll meet him tomorrow in the morning, but i´m so stoked about it! Imma be a daddy! It´s way strange, i´ve only been with my last three companions for 1 transfer each ( the least amount of time possible unless there is like a problem and emergency transfers are necessary), but usually when someone trains they train for at least 2 transfers. There are only 4 missionaries coming to our mission this transfer, but there are like 30 waiting for visas in the United States just like i waited in Texas.
Thanks for writing me and letting me know all about what´s going on there. I really appreciate your emails and all the support and love you give me! I´ll see you soon! Que tengas una buena semana :)   Love, Elder Emett

Dinosaurs dont exist anymore??

Mom,
Good day. I finally got packages!!! This week i recieved two packages and it was so awesome! I´m pretty sure they were from The Fullers and then the one from Laura and Kolby. Please send them all my love and my kisses and such. I´m guessing that kolby made lots of the decisions with the package that they sent me, i can´t really see Laura actually sending me hello kitty slippers haha eventhough they´ll be super useful when winter rolls around. But i also got a really helpful, heartfelt letter from Laura so it´s fine. :)
And the package from Kjirsten was great! I especially love the letter from little shaersti that says Christmas was just no fun without me haha what a delightful child. And the calender rules!!!! I´m so glad i got to have one of those for this year too, Thank you so much Kjirst!!! Except my fellow missionaries and i are only a little bit concerned and confused about how there is a picture of Kolby and Laura extremely close on the couch, but eh, whatever happens happens.
I also got like 8 letters from Dad that go back into the middle of December haha I don´t thank him near enough for all of those. THANK YOU DAD!!! That´s hard work. i would never write that many letters to a child of mine, i don´t care what country he´s in haha jk. But i´m still just amazed at how he finds time to write me so much with work and the family and all that stuff he´s doing.
You´re so right, Mom! i´m going to complete a year this week on the 22nd. That´s so much time it´s insane. But i´m going to be here in Santa Fe with two Elders who were in my district in the mtc so we´re going to be able to celebrate all together. You asked me if i completed half of all that i wanted to complete and the answer is i have absolutely no idea. Im not the greatest planner which also means i´m not the greatest at setting goals. I´m progressing a ton, but to be honest, i never put goals to have reached by the middle of my mission. My goals just go from week to week or day to day. I´m happy with what i´ve done, for sure, but i don´t know what i wanted to have done haha. maybe i should set goals for this next year also.
This week was just fast, that´s it. One of the less actives in our ward has a son who got way sick like two weeks ago. I´m not totally sure how it all worked out, but in the process of getting sick his wife left him and he lost his apartment. yeah, super bummer. He´s not a member and only his mom and brother are members. He lived with his wife in that apartment that got taken away and they had been married like 5 years without having any children. We visited him and he told us about all that and how he had to paint the apartment to avoid paying a ton more money so we offered to help him and he was so grateful for it. we spent 2 days painting it and after those 2 days we were able to share the message of the restoration with him. He promised to read the book of mormon and go to church and he really did both of those things!! We talked with him after church a little bit and he said it was nice, but he hasn´t really recieved and answer of any sort right now. So we´re working with him a little bit right now, but beside that we´re doing a lot of searching for new people which is a little rough.
We were eating with a member this week who is a single guy who is 30 years old. He´s chill and down to earth so we talk about all kinds of things and last week we were talking about like evidences of the bible and then dinosaurs. We talked about dinosaurs a little and the member mentioned that dinosaurs didn´t exist anymore. And my little precious companion was just surprised and asked to make sure, ´´dinosaurs don´t exist anymore in the world?´´ hahahahahahaha fantastic, no? i guess in the selva they don´t teach you about what eventually happened to all those dinosaurs. He really just had no idea, it was too cute.
he listen, i´m gonna head out so i´ll see you all next year at the dance party.  loves, Elder Emett

Splits with his companion from the MTC

mamers,
This week i went on splits with my companion from the mtc, Elder Thibert, and it was just neat. We taught an atheist man together and we just talked the whole time about life and how the mission has been so far and what we really want to get out of it. After spending a day with him it has made me super glad that i worked on my spanish so much! One thing that was super delightful this week is that we got invited to eat dinner with this super rich family. The father has been a stake president for like 14 years before and now he´s just a leader of the high priests in our ward. But he is super blessed and it´s really easy to tell, he has a great job and they are super rich. 2 of his kids live in the united states and are doctors. But we are forming such an awesome relationship with them, we are using him to help us teach and he always invites us over to eat and we have nice little chats over the phone. When we went over to eat i told him i was from saint george, utah and he was just like, ´´oh we love saint george! ´´ and pulls out a whole entire photo album of the time he took his family to saint george to look at all the church sites and hike the narrows in zion. my companion was looking at the pictures too and he said, ´´this girl is in like all the pictures, who is it?´´ and she was sitting right across the table from him so we all laughed for how cute the little guy is.
Then we had other members tell us that they have not been friends with the missionaries like they are friends with us for many years and they always tell us to come by their house if we ever need anything. So we´re working a lot more with the ward and i really feel like it´s working, at least i´m having a lot more fun with it.
And those guys with the drug problems are doing great! one of them has left drugs completely and is just a straight boss. We got done with a lesson with him and we asked him to pray and he said yes so we just folded our arms and waited and like then he said, ´´but i want to pray on my knees if that´s ok´´ and i just felt so silly because we should always try to pray on our knees with investigators and he just knew and showed us how it´s done. He has a baptismal date for the 15 of march. He wants to make sure he´s ready and that he won´t ever break his baptismal covenants beacuse  he understands how serious it is. when we invited him to get baptized he told us absolutely! but he has to be ready and he had already thought of a date and set it himself.
Hey mom! you say you love my little companion a ton? well you know what he loves? my shoes. my black and grey velvet vans. the other day he said to me, ´´i like your shoes too much elder. seriously will you please ask your family if they will send me some and i will pay for all of it?´´ he wears a size 38 and you don´t have to, but i would just feel like a bad companion if i didn´t mention it at least :)
But hey, i gotta fly! thanks for the snacks and the great chats. I´ll see you all next week when we speak in english again.

I almost lost my teeny tiny companion!!!!

Mamersonson,
Thanks for the huge email telling me all about the life over there back in utah and all about the super bowl!!! i didn´t even remember about that thing, there definately is no super bowl here in argentina. Some people know what american football is, but i have never met anyone here other than other missionaries that has played american football. There are way cooler sports here (just soccer).
This was a super great week!!! those guys were were teaching who had some troubles with the drugs didn´t ever really progress, but we still teach them a little bit here and there. we are really just working with the ward a lot more this week. We are doing this activity with the members where they pray for their friends for 21 days so that they can accept the gospel.
this p-day was so overdue! We played soccer for the first time in like a month and my body is seriously dead. after that we went to a mall that is super huge and american. Here in Argentina they call malls ´´shoppings´´ haha.  But there in that mall there are bumper cars! So we drove them obvioulsy. Me and the other 15 missionaries that were there with me haha.
Yesterday my companion recieved his patriarchal blessing! we traveled for like an hour to a small town where the patriarch lives and the just went into a room for like an hour and had the interview and the blessing and i just hung out and read stuff and played the piano. It made me think in when i got my blessing and how blessed i was to have you and dad there because my companion just wants to tell me everything, but he just can´t. It was awesome to have you there with me to understand with me. On the way back from the blessing we were getting off the bus and i didn´t know how many stops we had left before we should have gotten off so i was just waiting in the back when i realized we needed to get off right then because the bus was about to get on a free-way and go to a different city so i jumped off the bus and called to my companion to follow me, but he just stayed standing there and the bus took off! Then the bus stopped in the middle of the intersection and i just saw my little companion jump off the bus and run to the side of the street. i can´t explain it good, but it was super funny and i almost lost my teeny tiny companion, he almost just took a bus alone to another city.
But the life goes good and the work moves on. I´m loving it here in argentina and being able to teach people about super important stuff the don´t even know exists. We find way too many atheists in this area...    But i´ll see you some other time. hugs!      Elder Emett
