This week was super great!!!!

Beloved Mother,
This week was a super great week!!! That woman i told you about, Norma, got baptized and her whole entire family came to church. Out of the 15 family members that she had in church, only 2 of them are members and they were both incactive for a really long time. The bishop was a total boss and was talking to them a ton before the meeting. It was a fast and testimony meeting, and i´ll have to say one of the most powerful that i have ever experienced!! I got up to give my testimony and when i said that it was my last week in argentina i just started bawling and wasn´t even able to say any more words, i just bawled then sat down ha, i´m such a baby. There was a member from our ward who got up and talked about Norma´s husband (who was a member but had died) and how he used to bare his testimony about how he wanted his family to accept the gospel. Then the member said that the she can´t even imagine the joy of the husband (being there in the room with us just separated by the veil) because all of his family was there in church. After the baptism the bishop pulled almost all of the ´´new investigators´´ aside and talked to them about us passing by! Almost all of them said yes. AHHHHHH coolest bishop ever. so we have tons of work to do this week. The bishop wants us to teach all of them and give him a report a.s.a.p.
On sunday in the afternoon our mission president gave a fireside for all of the investigators and recent converts. he asked that one of our recent converts, Alan, give his testimony about the change that the gospel has had in his life. Alan gave such an awesome testimony, it was just powerful and spiritual. He is 18 right now and has 2 main goals in his life right now 1)finish high school and 2)go on a mission!! so he always goes on divisions with us and asks us if he can help us go out and teach... and he got baptized a month ago!!!! such a cool kid.
Nonetheless, with all the excitement, the weeks have not ceased to fly. I´m scared out of my mind to go home. But mom, please don´t think that it would be a disappointment to come home from a mission to our family. I was talking about our family with my companion the other night as we looked at the big laminted picture you gave me before i left. I realized what an amazing family we have!!! i hadn´t really ever thought about it like this before, my companion helped me open up my mind a little bit and he says that he is way jealous of our family and now he wants to have a ton of kids so that he can raise a family like the one you and dad have. All of your children are successful in the world, on their way to being dentists, orthodontists, or already are accountants, real- estate agents, and dental technicians. The majority of them have the most important thing nice and clear because they got married in the temple and are forming eternal families which is surely the goal for all. Apart from that we spend time together as a family and you and dad regulate that so well!!! I don´t think i´ve ever met a family that´s so united or so successful in every way. I´m stoked beyond belief to go back and be with the family, but that doesn´t take away from the fact that i´m scared, and that (for a while) i´m going to be dead weight for such a progressive family.
Thanks for the email!! That one made me feel especially welcome haha see you tomorrow

A ton of miracles happening!

NNiiicccceee,
Thanks for the email mam. thanks for the permission for little ampush to take up residency in the emett household, he´ll be a fantastic addition. Am i right??!! Norma is the coolest, she´s definately going to win some prizes in her life. she had her baptismal interview last week and the elder who gave it to her said, out of over 10 interviews that he has done, she was the most prepared out of anyone! she just knows every piece of doctrine and already lives it. Daniel´s family didn´t go for the same reason that kolby said he didn´t go to Riley´s baptism- ´´He didn´t go to mine, why would i go to his?´´ that was pretty ridiculous, there are obviously a lot of family problems under the surface that we´re not seeing here. They don´t have any goals together as a family. He has his goals and she has given up on her goals already.
Since that is their favorite food both Becca and Riley should come right to Rosario Argentina on their missions!! they´ll never ever want to eat noodles of any sort ever again! haha.
There is something weird about being here for more than 2 years, I have a card signed by the prophet that i´m allowed to preach the gospel until the 25th of February... but after that i guess i´m just like on a vacation for 2 more weeks until i actually go home.  You all better be jealous haha. no, it really is like that, but there´s so much to do that i´m going to have to do some stuff without permission and keep working for those 2 weeks. I had a super cool experience the other day. The mission president meets with the stake president every month to converse over matters of the stake and this month they were talking about all the problems that there are in the stake and they got to my ward and there were absolutely none. The stake president said that the ward is going super well and the mission president said that he already knew because he has one of his best missionaries of the field there.  I felt all warm inside ha
This week was really fast, just like all the weeks before that. i guess i can just plan on 2 weeks passing in like 5 minutes, but it´s going way fast because everything is just going so well here in Rosario, we already have all of our visits set up and all of our times filled until Friday so the time just passes flying. There are a ton of miracles happening, people accepting the gospel, and lives being changed. This is what the mission´s all about right here, this is what life´s all about!
I¨ll write to you next week and that´ll probably be the last time! I love you all tons, see you tomorrow!

I miss sushi!

Mom,
It´s true, it´s true, i saw the whole thing. i´m going home, so what? Every missionary has to go home sometime or another. Do you remember my companion from the selva? he sent me a very serious email asking about board at the Emett house for after the mission and i very seriously told him yes just so you know. He would just be like chuck, except he could sleep like under my bed or something cuz he´s just little tiny.
Uh... as for food or restaurantes that i miss i really don´t know. This sunday a member was asking me what food i miss from the united states and i just honestly had to say i don´t know. I don´t really remember the tastes all that good. I´m just used to eating argentine food so i´m not really sure about american foods. Just anything except for lasagna or noodles. It´s not that i don´t like those, and i´ve certainly learned how to deal completely with those in the mission, but i´ve eaten those for the last 2 years. I can say that i miss sushi... one time i tried to eat it here and it was just ham and cheese rolled up in rice haha. Everything here is ham and cheese.
About the monies, that would be super cool to have cuz i tried to go buy some things today, but i didn´t really have all that much money to buy stuff with... so if i could get some before next monday that would save a huge head-ache for me. Either way i was able to get some stuff, but i really put it all off until the end of the mission so it won´t be anything very impressive or well thought out, but it´ll all be very argentine!
We had another baptism yesterday! His name is Daniel and he is a super super cool guy. He is a master baker, but he couldn´t find work in that right now so he works in construction on the outside of town. He just lives in a really little humble house with his wife and 5 kids. He is 36 and she can´t be older than 30. The wife and two of the children got baptized about 6 months ago, but Daniel wasn´t on board with them in that moment. My comp and i got here and said, hey, you wanna get baptized? And after he expressed that it was a goal he had we set the date and he just got there super easily. The weirdest part is that his wife and his kids didn´t go to the baptism eventhough they are members and totally just barely got baptized. It is supposed that they were just being lazy, but we´re going to go see what´s really up this week.
The biggest story about this week and probably my whole time in this area is a woman named Norma. Her husband has been a member his whole life so from the time she was 20 until now, 44 years later, she has been associating with members and talking to the missionaries and just been encircled about by things of the church. 3 months ago her husband died and the only people who were there for her were the church members who she had rejected her whole life. The ward paid for the burial and they dressed him (cuz he was endowed) and did everything while still respecting the decisiones of Norma. A little time after that we got to the area and passed by to talk her. She surprisingly didn´t deny listening to us and we had a lesson where she just cried the whole time. We had 3 lessons right in a row about the plan of salvation just to explain answers to her questions and help her understand that she could see her husband again and if she followed the gospel she could live with him again. It´s crazy how some people need deaths to be their motivating force to progress in this life. She took everything completely serious and started developing a relationship with God and realized that the church is what would help her with that more than any other thing. We invited her to take the first step and be baptized and she completely denied us saying that was too fast. The very next week she accepted a baptismal date for what would have been yesterday (the 16th). And she put that as her personal goal. 1 week before her date we explained to her the truth of the word of wisdom and there we found out that she has smoked since she was 15!!!! she said that she was willing to quit, but that it was going to take a lot more time so she figured she would stop going to church and just focus on not smoking anymore, but we explained how it just doesn´t work like that and how she needs to keep going and she doesn´t have to get down about it, but push forward.
She took the decision to stop smoking and completely stopped!!!!! she said that, for a week now, she has not felt any temptation nor desire to pick up a cigarette. And as she was so focused on changing for God her testimony developed super fast and now it is her number one goal to get baptized and start her eternal family.
Thank you for my eternal family!! see you soon. love you all tons

Is that weed?

bueno, mams,
what can i say? i´m doing great. to answer questions- i feel great about finishing where i´m at. The members are sooo amazing and they all work super hard. yesterday we baptized someone else and this next sunday we´ll have another baptism- all people that were found and pretty much taught by the members. In this area our work is coordinating more than anything, it´s where i have ´´worked´´ less and coordinated most. we still do as much as we can to knock on door and all that, but with a really good ward it´s just not necessary, you can find the chosen people a lot easier because they are usually people who have had an association with the church and the members before anyway. It´s the first area where i feel like i have a little taste of what the missionaries in utah must feel like. My companion is Elder Powell from Idaho and we get along super great!! i feel like he would be just greatest friends with my brother zakk cuz he always talks about fighting and he always tells me the same stories so we´ll probably all hang out after all this stuff is over.
Yes please put some money in my account because i really really have to start buying things as soon as possible so that i can make sure i get all the argentine stuff i wanna take, more than anything for the family.
This week i just had one of the weirdest experiences ever. I was walking down the street with my comp on a nice sunday afternoon. there are tons of children playing outside and people going to and fro. we hear a man yell to us and we look over to see this 28 year-old-man just walking down the street with his wife and a child in a stroller so we think, ´´oh great! someone that knows the missionaries and has a family!´´ so we talk to him and almost immediately realize that he was a mediocre contact we had had about three weeks ago. We hadn´t planned on going back, but when we made the contact he didn´t have the same happy, go-lucky attitude. so we started talking just a little and he didn´t seem to be making much sense, but we kept talking until i realized he was smoking, but it didn´t look like a regular cigarrete at all. ´´ is that weed?´´ i ask. He just gives me a big smile and says, ´´yep! hey, listen i need to go now, we´ll see you around.´´ hahahaha take it as you may, that was one of the funneist experiences of my week.
Hey, listen i need to go now, we´ll see you around!

Your totally right, it was my birthday!!!!!

Your totally right! it was my birthday. sometimes i´m stupid and forget things so really not anybody knew, but i had a great day anyways !! :) maybe i´m just i denial because i can´t be 21 already, that´s soooooo old!! i´m like a whole entire grown up! but it all happened in argentina. In Saint Geezy i was just a baby, we´ll see if i grew up like a normal human or not, i probably have a lot of weird grown up stuff that i do now.  oldy. Oldy Ben.
Hey, if you´re already arranging the rooms and giving me the choice, i would love my old room back... or just any room that´s not the room that jer lived in for so long. For 19 years i was unable to even see the inside of the room so i don´t know if i could just like calmly live in it, no matter how fixed it is.  That´s a bummer about the temple, i´m real sorry that it wasn´t open and even worse there were people just disprespecting the most sacred things on earth. those people really just come from satan,  it´s like,  ´´don´t you have something better to do than to just sit out here and make people feel bad for believing in the truth? don´t you know how many prophesies you´re fulfilling right now?´´
THe work is great!!!! we had a baptism last week and this week we´ll have another because the people in this area are so great and the members help sooooo much!
sorry it was short, but the pictures make up for the difference! love you!

70's Fan

Dear Mam, i definately wrote you last week! please don´t tell me you didn´t get it at all. There we go, i just tried to send it to you again so you could see what i said. And on top of that i even sent you pictures!!! please have recieved it.
Not really anything is new, i didn´t get transfered, the baptisms are going super great! We are teaching this guy named Daniel who is the father of a family that got baptized last year, the whole family except for him. He has a baptismal date for the 16th of February and he went to church for the first time last week, he´s super cool. I never did get the package that Kolby and dad sent.... but haha what do you expect? that just about sums up my relationship with the argentine mail my whole entire mission.
I´m talking in church already? nobody asked me if i wanted to! Mom, this is important, i want to know what they have asked me to speak on! That would be really cool if you could ask them that!
Yeah, it´s for sure that it´s coming fast. way too fast.
Last week was a really incredible week mainly just becuase it rained like all week!!! it was the greatest, and it´s super rainy right now too. rain=cold. is it cold there in mr. Saint George? i sure hope so.
I do have a great story from last week. So we got to our apartment and it was super little and hot and sweaty so we were about to go buy another fan when i saw an old fan ouside that looked like it was from the 70s so we brought it inside and turned it on. I turns out that you have to hand start it, but when the thing gets going it gets going like none other. I have had like 3 incidents when i have just walked past it and the blades (made out of sharp blue plastic) have cut my arms or fingers because i guess i just walked too close. The good part is that it puts off a ton of air!
So yesterday we were starting our companionship study with a himn and the study table was on the other side of the room so i tossed my himn book onto the study table and i hear my companion say, ´´over the fan!´´ and i looked over just in time to see his himn book enter into the cage of the fan and just absolutely shatter 2 out of the 3 blades of the fan. Pieces of the fan flew all over the place and his himn book just stay lodged in the fan. We took a ton of pictures and even made a sign that says, ´´over the fan!´´ it´s my favorite joke for now. It probably just seems like a lame missionary joke, but i guess you just had to be there.
Everything here is going super great, i guess i´ll see you at church on the 16th! goodnight.

This Mission Business Is Going By Way Too Fast

Hahaha i loved your joint email of 2 lines haha. it´s all good, you already wrote me a ton this week.
This week was great, we had a baptism of the coolest kid ever. his name is alan and he´s 18. He got baptized because he has a huge testimony and he wants to go serve the lord for 2 years as soon as possible. The day after his baptism he called us and said, ´´hey, now that i´m baptized and everything i can go out and do visits with you guys, right?´´ he´s such a cool kid.
Thanks a ton for all the names and numbers so i´m not too confused about things. that helped me out a ton and also Kjirst sent me a great email helping out a bunch too. haha, i feel like such a looser not knowing my own family!
I can´t belive that we are already on the last wek of this transfer!! This mission business is going by way too fast. My comp just got here and he totally agrees with me that these weeks just feel likee days.  i don´t know if i can just go home. i´ve been out here for a tenth of my life, i never knew the idea of home could just completely change like that. I´ll be honest, i´m really scared, but luckily i have 2 months left!!
yesterday at church our mission president was just there and we were super weirded out about it because he´s not really one to visit random missionaries without purpose, but he told us he had come because he had a meeting with the area presidency, like the seventies, and all the stake presidents of our mission. they all came to our church because we have the stake center, but it was just so weird, i have like been out in the middle of nowhere for like 8 months then i come here to Rosario where i just like see profets all the time. I guess i like it a lot.
We have so many people in our area who are just awesome and progressing a ton, we just need more time to be able to teach them all they need to know so that they can get baptized. I will be super surprised if we don´t baptize at least 4 people within the next month ( which is a lot for our mission) just because the people are so prepared here.
Well, i´ll see you soon, have fun in pheonix! what did you two go there for anyway?
