It´s true, it´s true, i saw the whole thing. i´m going home, so what? Every missionary has to go home sometime or another. Do you remember my companion from the selva? he sent me a very serious email asking about board at the Emett house for after the mission and i very seriously told him yes just so you know. He would just be like chuck, except he could sleep like under my bed or something cuz he´s just little tiny.
Uh... as for food or restaurantes that i miss i really don´t know. This sunday a member was asking me what food i miss from the united states and i just honestly had to say i don´t know. I don´t really remember the tastes all that good. I´m just used to eating argentine food so i´m not really sure about american foods. Just anything except for lasagna or noodles. It´s not that i don´t like those, and i´ve certainly learned how to deal completely with those in the mission, but i´ve eaten those for the last 2 years. I can say that i miss sushi... one time i tried to eat it here and it was just ham and cheese rolled up in rice haha. Everything here is ham and cheese.
About the monies, that would be super cool to have cuz i tried to go buy some things today, but i didn´t really have all that much money to buy stuff with... so if i could get some before next monday that would save a huge head-ache for me. Either way i was able to get some stuff, but i really put it all off until the end of the mission so it won´t be anything very impressive or well thought out, but it´ll all be very argentine!
We had another baptism yesterday! His name is Daniel and he is a super super cool guy. He is a master baker, but he couldn´t find work in that right now so he works in construction on the outside of town. He just lives in a really little humble house with his wife and 5 kids. He is 36 and she can´t be older than 30. The wife and two of the children got baptized about 6 months ago, but Daniel wasn´t on board with them in that moment. My comp and i got here and said, hey, you wanna get baptized? And after he expressed that it was a goal he had we set the date and he just got there super easily. The weirdest part is that his wife and his kids didn´t go to the baptism eventhough they are members and totally just barely got baptized. It is supposed that they were just being lazy, but we´re going to go see what´s really up this week.
The biggest story about this week and probably my whole time in this area is a woman named Norma. Her husband has been a member his whole life so from the time she was 20 until now, 44 years later, she has been associating with members and talking to the missionaries and just been encircled about by things of the church. 3 months ago her husband died and the only people who were there for her were the church members who she had rejected her whole life. The ward paid for the burial and they dressed him (cuz he was endowed) and did everything while still respecting the decisiones of Norma. A little time after that we got to the area and passed by to talk her. She surprisingly didn´t deny listening to us and we had a lesson where she just cried the whole time. We had 3 lessons right in a row about the plan of salvation just to explain answers to her questions and help her understand that she could see her husband again and if she followed the gospel she could live with him again. It´s crazy how some people need deaths to be their motivating force to progress in this life. She took everything completely serious and started developing a relationship with God and realized that the church is what would help her with that more than any other thing. We invited her to take the first step and be baptized and she completely denied us saying that was too fast. The very next week she accepted a baptismal date for what would have been yesterday (the 16th). And she put that as her personal goal. 1 week before her date we explained to her the truth of the word of wisdom and there we found out that she has smoked since she was 15!!!! she said that she was willing to quit, but that it was going to take a lot more time so she figured she would stop going to church and just focus on not smoking anymore, but we explained how it just doesn´t work like that and how she needs to keep going and she doesn´t have to get down about it, but push forward.
She took the decision to stop smoking and completely stopped!!!!! she said that, for a week now, she has not felt any temptation nor desire to pick up a cigarette. And as she was so focused on changing for God her testimony developed super fast and now it is her number one goal to get baptized and start her eternal family.
Thank you for my eternal family!! see you soon. love you all tons
Elder Emett
